After visiting The Atomic Bomb Dome, I visited two places. It takes about 20minutes by walk and if you use tram or bus, it takes shorter. Hiroshima city, in my opinion, is very dense to trip around. Please check this page to make a plan to trip in Hiroshima!

1. Hiroshima Castle

Hiroshima Castle, also known as Carp Castle, was originally built in 1589 by the powerful warlord Mori Terumoto. It played an important role as the center of political and military power in the region during Japanโ€™s feudal era. The castleโ€™s design reflected the classic style of Japanese fortresses, with a large main tower and multiple defensive layers. Unfortunately, like much of Hiroshima, the original castle was destroyed in the atomic bombing of 1945.

There was originally castle but, it was collapsed by A-bomb.

In 1958, Hiroshima Castle was rebuilt as a replica of the original structure. Today, it stands as a historical monument and a symbol of Hiroshimaโ€™s resilience. Inside, visitors can explore a museum that offers a fascinating look at the castleโ€™s history, the samurai culture, and Hiroshimaโ€™s development over time. The surrounding grounds are also a peaceful place to relax, with beautiful views of the castle and seasonal cherry blossoms.

Inside this castle shows museums for visitors. They introduce the History of Hiroshima city and Hiroshima castle and how they lived a life during past time. For visitors, especially who are interested in Japanese history and castle nerd, here is very interesting place.

2. Shukkeien

Shukkeien is a traditional Japanese garden in Hiroshima with a rich history dating back to 1620. It was originally built by Ueda Soko, a tea master for the local feudal lord, Asano Nagaakira. The gardenโ€™s name, meaning “shrunken-scenery garden,” reflects its design, which aims to recreate miniature landscapes of mountains, rivers, and forests. Despite being heavily damaged during the atomic bombing in 1945, Shukkeien was carefully restored and now offers a peaceful glimpse into Japanโ€™s Edo period garden aesthetics.

How beautiful is it!? Very huge Japanese garden. Tokyo has also Japanese garden in city center but, Hiroshima one is authentic. Just take a walk, I felt relaxed and forgot to pass time!

For those seeking an escape from the cityโ€™s noise, Shukkeien provides tranquil walking paths, quiet ponds, and shaded teahouses where you can relax and enjoy nature. While the garden is located in the heart of Hiroshima, just a short walk from Hiroshima Castle and the bustling city center, it feels like a world away. Visitors can find calm corners near the central pond, where they can sit and reflect, surrounded by greenery and the gentle sounds of water.

3. Conclusion

In conclusion, Hiroshima city makes visitors feel unrealistic! As I said, Hiroshima’s sightseeing spots are dense in city center. It’s a little bit far from Hiroshima airport. It takes about one hour by bus. That’s disadvantage but, once you arrived at the city center, you can enjoy to take a walk!!!

Next Hiroshima part, I’m gonna write about an island where is world heritage island and gods are living…
