1. Yamaguchi
Yamaguchi has been on my bucket list ever since the New York Times featured it as a must-visit destination for 2024. I’m particularly interested in visiting Hagi City, where I can explore the historic grounds connected to Yoshida Shoin. Walking through the remnants of history there sounds so inspiring. Of course, I can’t forget about the fresh fugu (blowfish) that Yamaguchi is famous for—I’d love to try it! I’m hoping to make this trip happen sometime soon and experience the rich culture and cuisine.
2. Toyama
Toyama caught my attention as it was listed as a place to visit this year by the New York Times. It’s in the Hokuriku region, which I’ve never explored before, so it feels like an exciting adventure waiting to happen. The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route and the beautiful coastal scenery are so tempting. I also want to try Toyama Bay sushi, which is supposed to be incredibly fresh and unique. Visiting Toyama would give me a chance to immerse myself in a new part of Japan and its charm.
3. Osaka
Osaka has been on my mind lately for two reasons—the upcoming Expo 2025 and a close friend who recently moved there. I really want to experience the energy of the Expo and see what futuristic ideas will be on display. While I’m there, I’d love to explore Osaka’s famous street food, like takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Catching up with my friend in her new hometown would make the trip even more special. Osaka’s lively vibe always seems so inviting, and I’m excited to make it happen!
How about you? Where do you wanna go???
