Shopping at Ameya Yokocho Street: Enthusiastic New Year’s Eve event!!!

1. What Can I Do In Ameyoko?

Yesterday, I went shopping at Ameya Yokocho Street to buy seafoods and snacks for coming of the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Party. Every year, many customers are going this street and get a lot of foods. Of course, many shops are enthusiastic to sell fresh foods and earn enough money.

Year-end in Ameya-Yokocho is a vibrant and bustling time, adding a special charm to this renowned shopping district located in the Ueno area of Tokyo. Ameya-Yokocho, often referred to as “Ameyoko,” is a popular market that attracts both locals and numerous foreign tourists.

As the year comes to a close, Ameya-Yokocho becomes even livelier with festive decorations and an energetic atmosphere. The market, known for its diverse range of products, transforms into a lively hub for holiday shopping. Visitors can explore a variety of fresh produce, clothing, accessories, and unique souvenirs, creating a perfect opportunity for year-end gift shopping.

2. What did I buy?

Ameya-Yokocho is not just a marketplace; it’s a melting pot of cultures and flavors. During the year-end season, the area hosts a myriad of food stalls and international eateries where visitors can savor diverse cuisines and enjoy the festive spirit.

I bought 9 slices of sermon, sermon’s egg(Ikura), a big sliced of tuna, abalone(Awabi), 3 Kamabokos, one bag of dry fruit and one bag of chocolate.

I spent only 15000 yen!!! SUPER REASONABLE!!!

To get fresh foods reasonable, you need to negotiate with shop clerk. Normally, they can’t sell only one products. Customers have to purchase one things and another something. In my case, I bought one big slice of tuna for 4000 yen and one box of Ikura for 3500 yen and then, I spent 6000 yen. Also, you can also buy fresh foods more reasonable when you visit at night from 5pm. Because food markets want to sell left behind foods, the price is going down.

Ameya-Yokocho is not just a marketplace; it’s a melting pot of cultures and flavors. During the year-end season, the area hosts a myriad of food stalls and international eateries where visitors can savor diverse cuisines and enjoy the festive spirit. Here is one of a Asian food market. They sell Chicken’s leg and Pork’s head.

There are also many kinds of Izakaya at this street. Yesterday, everywhere was full. I didn’t go there. Customers had already been drunk so they looks like fun.

Adjacent to Ueno Park and Ameya-Yokocho Gallery, this district becomes a hub of activity during the year-end festivities. The combination of traditional Japanese market vibes and a cosmopolitan ambiance makes Ameya-Yokocho an inviting destination to experience the fusion of cultures while indulging in shopping and delightful culinary experiences during the year-end celebrations.
