1. Segodon’s Villeage

Segodon’s Village, nestled in the scenic region of Kirishima City, Kagoshima, offers a captivating glimpse into Japan’s rich cultural heritage. The village is named after Saigo Takamori, affectionately known as “Segodon,” one of Japan’s most revered samurai and a key figure in the Meiji Restoration. Traditional Japanese architecture, period-specific exhibits, and immersive displays provide an authentic experience, allowing visitors to step back in time and explore the legacy of one of Japan’s most iconic figures.

Actually, this place is not a real Segodon’s house. It’s kind of a museum. Based on Segodon’s history, many visitors come to the place and experience Segodon’s life.
This museum is the centerpiece of Segodon’s Village, offering a comprehensive look at Saigo Takamori’s life and contributions to Japanese history. Exhibits include artifacts, personal belongings, and detailed accounts of his role in the Meiji Restoration, providing deep insights into his enduring legacy.

The village is surrounded by lush gardens and scenic walking paths that provide a tranquil escape into nature. These gardens are designed in the traditional Japanese style, featuring serene ponds, meticulously maintained landscapes, and seasonal blooms that offer a peaceful retreat for visitors.
Also, engage in various cultural workshops and demonstrations that bring the village’s history to life. From traditional tea ceremonies and calligraphy sessions to samurai armor displays and martial arts performances, these activities provide an interactive way to experience Japan’s rich cultural traditions.

No visit to Segodon’s Village is complete without sampling the local cuisine and exploring the charming souvenir shops. Enjoy authentic Kagoshima dishes at the village eateries, and take home unique souvenirs that reflect the region’s heritage and craftsmanship.
Segodon’s Village is more than just a historical site; it’s a living testament to the enduring spirit of Saigo Takamori and the cultural richness of Kagoshima. This quaint, wooden station is a nostalgic relic from the Meiji era, retaining much of its original architecture and charm. It serves as a beloved spot for railway enthusiasts and photographers, who are drawn to its historical significance and rustic beauty. There is no staffs in this station…
Very quiet. However, this station is wooden and retro atmosphere. Plus, it’s very close to Kagoshima airport and it takes about 10 minutes by car. Once you arrive at Kagoshima airport, I strongly recommend you to visit this station!
3. Maruo Fall

Maruo Falls, located in Kirishima City, Kagoshima, is a stunning natural wonder that captivates visitors with its beauty and serene ambiance. This picturesque waterfall, approximately 23 meters high, is fed by hot spring waters, giving it a unique and mystical appeal. Surrounded by lush greenery and volcanic landscapes, Maruo Falls creates a tranquil and refreshing atmosphere, perfect for nature lovers and photographers. The gentle mist from the falls, combined with the soothing sounds of cascading water, provides a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Actually, this fall’s water is hot spring’s water. That’s why, when you look at beside the water fall, the color becomes more brown. Onsen’s water fall is very rare in Japan, so when you visit here during winter, the smoke from water from is very beautiful!
4. Eirakusou (Yakiniku BBQ Restaurant)

Here is a Eirakusou๏ผๆฐธๆฅฝ่๏ผใwhere is my most favorite BBQ restaurant in Japan!
Kagoshima is very famous for black things such as Black Beef, Black Pork, Black Satsuma Chicken, and Black Vinegar. This BBQ restaurant offers those fresh foods.

The inside is very calm compared to a city center’s restaurant. It looks like old-fashion but, it’s very nice!

Tori-sashi, which is raw homebred chicken and Marinade of homebred chicken using fresh chicken. The texture is interesting and dipping to sweet soy sauce and adding wasabi, ginger, the taste is so brilliant!*You can’t have this in Tokyo due to sanitized problem.

Fresh beefs! Once you have this one, you can’t have beef in your town. How can I explain this? When you bite beef, in your mouth, the beef melts! That’s why they use the freshest beef.
Considering to price, it’s ultimately reasonable and the average is JPY2,000-3,000 for lunch time and JPY4,000-5,000 for dinner time. If you wanna eat this quality beef, chicken and pork in Tokyo, it takes over JPY 20,000!!!
To taste the best beefs, porks, and chickens, please come to Eirakusou!!!
5. Conslusion
